Macammana nak jadi fashionista muslimah yang diredhai Nya?
Salam and hello dearies..
So semalam nampaknya tak menulis eh.. haha
Takpe, semalam puasa. Dimaafkan. mengantuk dan letihnya.. x tau nk habaq lagu mana dah..Sbb 1st day kot.. sebab ada mild fever kot. Bila petang baru ok sikit. Dapat la prepare sket untuk berbuka. Sandwich burger dan agar2 je. Tapi alhamdulillah kenyangsss :D
Progress #kakakSA in time reading alhamdulillah ok. dah takde focused teaching. Sebab dia dah tahu & faham konsep.
What about pakai tudung singkat tapi baju x menampakkan bentuk2 yg patut disorok tu? Bagi atul no problem. Kita dah cover lah tu. Yang kita nak, cover ourselves, bukan wrap tightly yourselves. Ada beza ye akak2 adik2 ku sayang. Jadi, bila pakai baju sutera yang lembuts tu, harapnye pakailah tudung labuh sikit, sebab weols ni istimewa..ada asset yang power tau..
Termasuklah Atul...wuwuwu...
Happy reading!

Balancing Fashion & Faith: A Look at Muslim Style Bloggers
If there’s one thing I learned from my second IFB conference, it’s that our community is more ecclectic and diverse than I ever imagined. We have members from all over the world, representing an absolute multitude of races, religions, creeds and cultures. IFB is basically this fabulously chic digital melting pot.
Though our vast numbers and widespread characteristics really showed themselves at the conference, I think all these different people can be under-represented in our content. Color me curious, but I just want to know more about all these bloggers who aren’t – let’s face it – skinny white girls with a camera and a closet. [Editors note: I am perhaps one of these girls, so I get to say that.]
In an effort to explore our community and get to know the different niches that make up the style blogging world, IFB is going to feature successful bloggers who represent the best of their demographic. To kick things off, get to know some of the chic Muslim style bloggers of IFB.
Asma of Haute Muslimah, based in the US (Texas)
On balancing her faith and fashion:
“Personally for me, everything must follow Islamic guidelines first. And I find that almost every trend can be worked into a more modest look. I mean, except if the trend is minis- well, even then I supposed you could rock them with pants. For example stripes were huge last spring, and you can wear them on scarves, dresses, tunics, whatever really. I don’t like to limit myself when it comes to fashion.”
On the challenges she faces with her blog:
“The first challenge is taking photos for my blog. It’s really difficult to take photos that not only don’t show my face, but don’t really show the shape of my body too much either. I need the photos to look good, to look stylish, and I still need to maintain my modesty. (Not all Muslim fashion bloggers do this, this is just me personally.) Second, I always try to point out that you can wear something I blog about however you want. If you’re a modest dresser, then work it. If you’re not, then you can still wear the trend or style in a different way.”
Hana of Style Covered, based in the UK
On how her religion impacts her day-to-day style…
“I’m a convert to Islam; I didn’t always dress this way. The main thing is that I feel covered. By that, I do of course mean literally i.e. wearing a scarf and covering my body, but it’s as much a state of mind. To know that it is actually possible to feel beautiful without being sexy. It also comes down to simplicity and shunning the ‘excess’ that comes with fashion. Most of the time I’m working from home or with girlfriends so I don’t even think about covering up, but going out just means I pick from a different set of clothes, or add a layer or two.”
On the challenges she faces marrying fashion and her faith…
There are always challenges in getting what you look like to be reflective of who you are, and having lived both, I think it’s no more or less difficult having to cover. It’s just different. A different aesthetic. It took a while to get to know myself this way, but it was exciting being able to experiment and having a whole new set of tools to play about with.
On the Muslim style blogging community…
“Being a part of such a small community of bloggers (especially when I first started) you get to know everyone. We’d do our best to support what everyone else was doing because we know first hand how hard it can be. But it’s also vibrant and a great network to be a part of. Different countries all have their own particular style, and it’s wonderful to have such a diverse cross-section of style at your fingertips.”
Miss Hijabi of Miss Hijabi, based in Australia
On the Hijab, and what it means…
“The hijab itself, is just the term for the scarf we wear on our heads, but a lot of bloggers will extend the term to include the overall dress of a covered Muslim woman. It is part of our religion to cover our bodies when we dress (for men and women) so many of us see it as a religious duty to abide by. It means different things to different people. A lot of Muslim women wear it, while at the same time a lot don’t for their own reasons and beliefs. For me; it is essentially about modesty. We like to cover as we think it is more respectable as women not to have the majority of our body on display when in public.”
On the Muslim style blogging community and representation in the media…
“Most of the Muslim bloggers I know are from the UK, USA, Middle East, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc. There really aren’t that many Australian Muslim bloggers that I know of. We have a few nationwide, but in my state as far as I know there is only me.
There are so many Muslim fashion bloggers out there! In TV/magazine type media we are definitely underrepresented (or more likely not represented at all) but we have definitely taken the matter into our own hands when it comes to online media. There is a huge community for us to share ideas and show off our style.”

*this post dated Thursday, 4 February
2016
Assalamualaikum dears.
Looks like am doing well with the
posts eyh. There’s small trick to this consistence posts. For now I’ll keep it
to myself first. Hahaha.
*sapa nak tahu say
I… haha
We are going to Segamat for relative’s wedding tomorrow.
Hubs is arriving tomorrow morning too. 4 days of single mom title is ending.
Suddenly I feel the urgency to tidy the house to no speck of
dust around. Of course of course, this is more to a dream yet to come true… haha
But hey, I did a little cleaning this morning. Definely
growing up a little muscle on my right biceps…haha.
I hoovered, mopped, dusted the house with little helper
#broAm. Yesterday I cleaned up all the ceiling fans. #broAM helped by climbing
up the ladder step. Just one step. Almost throughout the process I kept on
chanting “get down, dangerous”, “Mujahid, don’t climb”, “Mujahid give way, mama
is coming down” and etc. hahaha, I sweat a lot because of those chantings je. Looking good in achieving my #azamkurus
it seems. :D
Righto, play dough recipe as promised. Before that, I get
this recipe from FB. India comfort FB to be exact. I tweaked it according to
what we have in Malaysia.
Homemade playdough
1 cup flour (I buy the cheapest in the market)
2tbsp sunflower oil (other kind of oil is okay too)
3tsp vinegar
¼ cup fine grain salt
1 cup hot water
A cap of edible coloring
*Add all (except colouring) in non stick pot. Heat and stir
till lumpy and thick. Around 5 mins medium fire.
*transfer to a bowl. Knead till dough texture is nice and
soft. You may rub oil on your hand a
bit.
*Make a hole in the middle of the dough. Pour colour. Knead more
till colour is even.
*Add more colour if you want it to be more vibrant
CAUTION: Dough is hot in the initial stage of kneading. I
use spatula to help with the kneading.
I tripled up the ingredients in a batch and divided it to 3 balls during the colouring stage. Do we call that malas
or bijak?
I know I am a smart mom. Hahaha, what about you?
Good quote of the day:
‘ hot supermoms knead
hot #homemade #playdough and remain strong till the end of process’
Do share this in your FB and to other supermoms you know.
Well, I call that spread the supermom positivity. Hehe :P

azam slim down activated!
ececece..
kemain baq hanggg... hahaha
harini post bahasa melayu lah. Tapi rasanya tulis dlm BM lg best! Rasa lebih berjiwa lagi..haha
nak cerita azam slim ni.. tapiii..kita tulis psl history dulu ok
pre pregnancy weight masa #broAM dulu, berat dah mencecah 62kg. Omooo berat gilos! Tapi lepas bersalin, bersalin, berat turun konsisten dgn keluarnya #broAM dan sleepless nights, dan non stop feeding. Pergh.. memang patut turun lah kan.. banyak tu pengorbanan.. haha.. sampai satu tahap, berat around 53kg. Wow!!
Selepas #broAM start mkn, dan masuk usia setahun, berat mula naik balik. Kenapa eh? salah satu puncanya adalah sbb portion mkn kita. Bila anak makin kerap mkn, feeding session makin kurang. Kalori dibakar juga makin kurang. Tapi perut kita ni dah biasa hadap makanan yg banyak. Kira dah jadi habit mkn kena byk lah. Banyak mengada perut kita ni..haha
So, down sikit sebab berat menaik. Takpe, kita kurus balik ok.
Sebab dah tulis dlm blog, kita kena serius capai target lah.
Current weight: 58kg
Target weight: 45kg
Duration: 7 months
Action:
eat clean and healthy
homemade food
excercise 3x weekly
detox
puasa sunat (*read puasa ganti..wuwuwu)
ni rough plan. nanti kita share dgn lebih detail lg. Buat masa ni, dah start dgn drink a lot, minum green tea untuk detox seminggu dulu. Inshaallah esok kita start puasa pulak ye..
Dari segi mkn, eat out mmg da reduce dah.. tapi nk makesure masakan lebih healthy. Kurangkan deep fry food and lebihkan stim, roast, dan seangkatanya..haha.. mampukah??
Kita mampukan juga ye.
*atul nak cuba jadikan habit bangun sebelum subuh, mandi siap2 dan tunggu waktu subuh.
ok, harini takde nak cerita ape sgt je.. hehe
random ramblings je

Post 3
*this post Wednesday, 3 February
2016
As promised in the last post, I will share on how I teach
#kakakSA to read the time.
First, I bought an IKEA cheap and practical wall clock. It’s white. It’s clear and the right size. I don’t want any distractions while teaching. Then I post the post-it strips on each hour numbers, the minute representation. Refer to the pic below.
First start with introduction of the hands. Hour hand, minute
hand and second hand. Do play with the hands to show that it moves in circle,
in what direction. Write down, the basic concept. 60 sec = 1min, 60 mins = 1
hour, 24 hrs = 1 day, 12hrs day and 12rs night, according to the clock system.
I make the min hand a full circle and tell her that after 60 times of full circle,
then she’ll get an hour. Talk about how long an hour is (I tell her this
because in a day after Quran recital and a page of Peter&Jane, she gets an
hour of TV/game slot). It is a 60 full circle round the clock. Talk on how we
should not waste our time.
Then I tell her how to read the hour hand. If the hand is in front of the number, it should be that time. When the min hand reaches 60mins/12, means entering new hour. I also put the min hand at ie: 28 mins to get her brush her counting skill.
After few times and I am confidence of her understanding, we start to do guess the time activity. Using the same clock, I ask her to guess the time. I write down the answer on the whiteboard. I see this as an important action in order to show that I am with her with time reading learning, and simultaneously let her see how we write down time (ie: 7.15, 7 is the place for hr, and 15 is the place for min)
She enjoyed the activity so much that she said it is better than eating choc. Hahaha.. sweet talker betul
And that’s about it for the first day 1. Few days afterward would simply be guess the time activity, and I also downloaded time reading activity from the net. I was impressed because she did all correctly. Of course with reference to the IKEA clock for the minute reading. As of now, she just need to memorize the general minute (5, 10, 15, 20, et. Al) representations on each number on the clock face.
Next plan is to teach her how to count money and manage it well. Coz I am no better at fund@money management myself and I find it’s an important value for everyone. Not just time manangement. hahaha
I think that ends today’s post. I’ll continue tomorrow with the super awesome homemade playdough recipe.

Post 2
* this post dated Tuesday, 2 February
2016
Ok, I admit it. IT IS SUPERHARD TO COMMIT TO A POST A
DAY!!!!
But, before jumping to any conclusion, lemme tell you this.
Not a day passed without me feeling this deep guilt for not writing anything.
So, you see, I want to write something, but I failed, but it is ermm sort of “
sentiasa di dalam ingatan” thingy, so I think I not hopeless yet.. aahahhaha…
Summing those days, I opened up my Thai kitchen and invited
my parents+bro. we had nasi putih, siakap
3 rasa, sotong goreng tepung, kalian ikan masin , telur dadar and my superb
the teh tarik ( but seriously delish
and no secret recipe to it. Simply use loose tea leaves, strain manually – alah macam kat kedai buat tu, just
boiled water, susu pekat and susu sejat – any brand is ok to me. Do
it right, get the right colour, the right sweetness and creaminess, walla marvelous the for everyone)
The sotong goring tepung is crunchy super nice. I meant, I
like it, hubs looooves it.. dip in the thai sweet chilli sauce..simply yums. I
don’t go for life brand thai sauce, go look for those imported from thai, or I
use angel brand. The recipe? Check it out:
Sotong goreng tepung
@ fried squid (?)
( I copied this recipe somewhere from FB, thanks to whoever
you are.)
Squids, wash, cut ring, dry with towel or kitchen tissue
1:1 ratio flour and rice flour
Pinch of salt
Pinch of black pepper(BP)
*Put flours, salt and black pepper in a container that have
lid. Mix well. Put dried squids. Shake well till all skin cover with flour.
Take out the squid on a plate. Pour water into remaining flour mixture, (if its
too little, add more flour, salt and BP according to above). Mixture should be too thick nor too watery.
*oil enough for deep frying. Heat oil. Dip floured squid
into mixture and straight into the hot oil. Do one by one. (medium fire) once coating is golden, its
ready to be taken out.
*done. Ready for santapan.
Ok enough of the recipe. Lets talk about yesterday’s
achievement. #kakakSA finally can read the time. The analogue clock okay. She
is 6. I am a paranoid mom. I look into standard one’s syllabus. They will learn
about time reading. I am afraid that she wouldn’t be able to catch up. You see,
next year she’ll be joining the gov school. Usually in gov school, there will
be up to 30 or more kids in a class. How on earth can the teacher teach and
ensure that all of them master the lesson? So I am paranoid like that.
I’ll share how to teach time reading to a six years old in
other post.
As of today, I’ve prepared homemade playdough. 5 different
colours in total. The recipe used today is a good one. Last time I made a
batch. It was not as soft and the texture was grainy. I was not satisfied with
the first and tried with today’s recipe. It works to my standard.
We have few playdoh equipment. But ran out of playdoh dough.
Buying is expensive. Especially during this time. Even eating out freely is not
an option anymore. Before, we spent around RM 40ish for lunch outside. Now bill
goes up to 60, 70 even 80. That is crazy man. The pay does not go up as fast!
In the end, I cannot pay them tho hubs is ok to eat out sometimes. I cannot
bring myself to pay because 1) too expensive 2) Food is very simple for the
price. Secret recipe’s kids menu of fish and chips cost around RM18 ++. Small
portion with big price. TT 3) I can cook better 4) Food from my kitchen is
yummier 5) I buy AFR chicken, which is safer Inshaallah, fresh fish from the
wet market, etc etc 6) not worth eating outside anymore.
But we still go for roti canai sometimes in the weekends.
Hahaha..
Back to playdough, lets share the recipe in later post ok. I
am tired of hitting the keyboard. Man (next time I going to use lady insteadof
man! ), I am no typist for sure. Cannot brain how I managed working as
secretary back then.

Post 5
If you are reading my secret letters here, you'll be a bit confused with the post thingy. Just ignore it and keep on reading as usual.
Seriously you want me to explain?
.
.
2 posts a day for this coming four days. 1st post is actually what has been written before in Word while dusting up this blog (address, layout, motivation, etc). The other one is for the current post. you can refer to the dates on top of the old post.
Today is Sunday, 7 February 2016. A day to rest at home, waking up late, fisnishes laundry and be lazy before another long trip to Melaka tomorrow. CNY kenduri hosted by our Chinese uncle.
Huwaaa penat lah.
Segamat adventure
We rented Teratak Ixora homestay in Segamat. Not really in heart of bandar Segamat. But the place is nice and quiet. The house is near to eating places, which is good. We arrived on Friday night around 830pm. It was raining cats and dogs. Luckily there are plenty of restaurants around the area. After dinner, we headed home for a rest. Saturday is going to be a long day.
Indeed, Saturday was along day. We woke up early waiting for Abah to buy breakfast. Alas something went wrong, taking out orders is hard here in Segamat. They prefer dine in. so Abah came back, a bit pissed off and asked us to get ready for breakfast. Om and farizan woke up a bit late. So we waited for them to get ready. Hence the late breakfast. Afterward, we went straight to Felda Pemanis for the wedding. We were told that lunch will start around 12. And we were informed later that actually lunch starts at 2. And there we were left aimlessly with few hours to spare. huuuu
2 pm, lunch, then perform solat jama' before heading home. We planned to stop by at A'famosa outlet along the way. Spent till 7pm at the outlet and had dinner. Stopped at RnR Seremban for solat and off to home sweet home. The journey ends at 1030pm.
Penat wey.

Post 1
* this post dated Monday, 29 January 2016
To get the momentum and maintaining it is hard.. yeah I
know..and you know that too.
So I’ve been a sahm *read WAHM in the making, inshaallah*
for a year +, for real. I meant, I’ve quitted before, advised against, super
hard tough emotional times, and joining the workforce again. But now, IT IS FOR
REAL!! till my babies are adults.. so yeah clingy mom.
We talked about me blogging, something to do with context marketing, as you see, I am a
WAHM in the making. I have an online boutique selling nursing friendly muslimah
clothing, and biznes is moving super slow right now. Priorities, my two kids
are my priorities. To see and be with them while growing up is my utmost aim. I
donchwanna fell guilty and keep on lamenting on how I missed all the tiniest
and humongous milestones in their life just because I am at the office typing
something on the pc.
But most of all, I think its all about jotting down the dull
happenings of a SAHM, daily inshaallah. For me to stay sane, to pass down all
the A+ recipes for my kids that I’ve tried, and perhaps bit of insight to SAHM
wannabes out zer!
Ok, lets just share my nasi ayam recipe as a start.

A year break
It has been a year plus since the last post. Along the way:
I stop selling Shaklee, not because its not a quality brand, simply just because..
I continue with my master at UUM. Classes every weekend, getting good grades and now I'm starting my short thesis. The final stone before recieving the MSc. scroll. May Allah ease everything. SAHM, WAHM and Student is a tough job!
I still breastfeed my son. He is a year and seven months this 21st Feb 2016. A long, tiring journey I would say. As all other breastfeeding moms would say. But its all worth it nevertheless. If I were given the choice again, I won't budge. Hence, moms out there, if god has given you the opportunity to BF, do it with ease. There are moms who would love to be able to BF if given the opportunity.
I am working to be a WAHM at this moment. Progress is poor though. Hahaha. Will talk about this later in the next post.
#azam2016 is somewhat more practical
1. azam kurus
2. azam lebih amal
3. azam gilap potensi diri
4. azam ubah jadi lebih baik
In the end, whatever I am planning, it is for me and people around me well beings dunya and akhirah, Inshaallah.
ps: I change the direction of this blog, AGAIN!. haha, well I guess I am still indecisive. You'll see a bit of changes.
